You can't help but wonder why a couple of successful executives would want to leave the comfort of their air-conditioned offices and undertake such a strenuous task. But their delighted faces keep popping up in your mind, as you ponder upon the anomaly of the situation. The only difference between these men and the ones comfortable in their corporate domain was that these men were still hungry for life, they were still raring to learn and discover, they were still bursting with curiosity and adventure!
When at first, you had glanced upon this curious mix of a group, the situation had made you give it a second glance, but now you realise that the anomaly lay in the fact that you thought it was an unusual situation. This way of life in which men from all backgrounds and cultures interact, where different interests are shared to create a harmony that resonates within the society, that is what is "normal". That normalcy soon become an anomaly after men started building walls amongst each other; walls of religion, class, language; anything that would declare them superior over the rest of the crowd. That illusion is the most dangerous of all, because it is exactly that : an illusion. How can one man be superior over another? It is dangerous to accept superiority, not for the world but for the man who is making that assumption for himself. When that thought takes root within your mind, it closes your mind to the world, it closes your mind to a myriad of opportunities that were yours for the taking, you start living within yourself, and this ultimately drives you towards a path of insecurity and instability.
When you wake up in the morning, take a deep breath and tell yourself that everything that happens to you today, and everyone you meet will contribute in a positive way to your life. Talk to yourself and analyse that every person has a story, every person has something to offer the world, something to contribute, every person is a mine waiting to be explored. Some mines may uncover diamonds, some gold and some may contribute plain coal,but the joy of discovery is the same in all the cases. The beauty truly lies in the eye of the beholder!
